Trailer Gives a Glimpse of Afolayan’s ‘Ijogbon’

‘Ijogbon”, the third of the multi-title film deal between filmmaker Kunle Afolayan and Netflix is set to hit the streaming platform. This follows the trailer released a few days back. The trailer gives a glimpse of the plot, which revolves around a group of people who find themselves in a series of bizarre and dangerous situations. It promises a visually stunning and emotionally charged cinematic experience.
Recall the first of the three Netflix slate with Afolayan, ‘Swallow’ was shot and released in 2021. The second ‘Anikulapo’, released in November 2022, inspired spin-off series. “Ijogbon” delves into the shared human experiences, coloured by unique cultural backgrounds and belief systems. The film also shares a poignant portrayal of the aspirations and challenges faced by rural teenagers in pursuit of a brighter future, even if it means resorting to a daring “Japa”.
The feature film follows the journey of four teenage friends from a remote village in southwest Nigeria who stumble upon a pouch of hidden diamonds and choose to keep it; the jewels’ owners come looking for their missing goods, setting off a chain of perilous events. And now the teenage youths must come face to face with chaos as they work together to save one of their friends.
Written by Tunde Babalola, the coming-of-age adventure film was shot at Kunle Afolayan Productions Film Village and Resort. It features Ruby Akubueze, Kayode Ojuolape, Fawaz of Ikorodu Boiz and Oluwaseyi Ebiesuwa as the four friends in the drama. The robust cast includes Gabriel Afolayan, Adunni Ade, Bimbo Manuel, Yemi Solade, Sam Dede, Gregory Ojefua, Saeed Mallam, Femi Branch, Femi Adebayo Salami and Dorathy Bachor.
