Moment of Pride ….Another Honour for Babatunde Okewale

The mind of an individual is a garden for passions and ambitions. In the case of Dr. Babatunde Okewale, the founder of St. Ives Clinic and the brain behind Women Radio 91.7, the mind is a nurturing place to improve the health conditions and circumstances of other people, especially women and their families. Unsurprisingly, this has brought to Okewale’s numerous awards in recent times with the latest being the honorary recognition from a prestigious tertiary institution in Abeokuta.

The times are indeed ripe for the appreciation of the peerless contributions of Dr. Okewale. The next in line to bestow this honour appears to be Crescent University, Abeokuta. According to the report, the institution intends to decorate Okewale with an honorary degree, raising his status a few degrees upward.

The honorary degree from Crescent University is not merely designed to show solidarity with Okewale. Instead, it is a deliberate move on the institution’s part to recognize the good fertility doctor’s contributions to the public and private sector. With the institution’s 15th convocation ceremony scheduled for October 14, 2023, Okewale is expected to receive the honour and go on doing amazing things for humanity.

For sure, Okewale’s doings deserve this kind of recognition. For the longest time, he was the only notable individual interested in terminating the depressing spire of infertility cases among Nigerian women. However, after many successful IVF stories, Okewale won the respect of Nigerians home and abroad who started to realise that he genuinely cared for the continuity of families.

Moreover, Okewale took things a step further by establishing Women Radio 91.7, which has served as an outlet for trained medical personnel to assist women with myriad issues. Additionally, Okewale has written two books on the same spectrum, “How to Get Pregnant and Have a Baby” and “The Art of Making Babies,” further raising Okewale’s contributions to humanity.

Little wonder Okewale has a long stretch of awards, numbering in their tens. These include the African Development (AD) award as Africa’s Best Rated Healthcare Personality, Lagos Times’ Excellence Award in Healthcare Entrepreneurship, and City People’s Lifetime Achievement award, to name a few.
