From Fally Ipupa and Diamond Platnumz to Nigeria’s music superstars Rema, Kcee, Spyro, and Timaya, the event showcased the immense talent within the African music industry.
Rema, in particular, took the spotlight by clinching one of the night’s most prestigious awards, Artist of the Year. This win solidified his influence on the international scene, coming on the heels of his remarkable achievement of reaching one billion streams on Spotify for his song ‘Calm Down’ remix featuring Selena Gomez.
Another noteworthy triumph at the awards ceremony, held at the Dallas Symphony Center, was Davido’s album ‘Timeless,’ which emerged as the Best Album of the Year.
Also making a significant stride is Spyro, a young talented musician who captured audiences globally with his catchy hit ‘Who Is Your Guy.’ Spyro took home the award Best Collaboration for the song’s remix featuring Tiwa Savage.
Recognizing more than a decade of outstanding contributions to the music industry, Port Harcourt’s very own Timaya was honored with the Lifetime Achievement award.
Kcee, who has been keeping dance floors alive with his latest groovy hit ‘Ojapiano,’ received the Legendary award, while Ayra Starr secured the award for Best Female West Africa.
Nigerian artists continued to shine across various categories, with Odumodu Blvck winning Best Newcomer, Flavour claiming the title of Best Live Act, and Blaqbonez being named Best Male Rap Act.
