LuckyBet Announces Exciting Partnership with Portable

Iyke Bede writes that the choice of Afrobeats artiste, Habeeb Olalomi, aka Portable, as ambassador to a sports betting brand recognises bettors’ desire to identify with a relatable popular figure who inspires hope and fuels dreams

Positioning itself at a vantage point to compete fairly in Nigeria’s cutthroat sports betting sector, LuckyBet has undertaken a significant path of transformation. At a recent engagement at its Lagos office in Ojota, the sports betting company signed afrobeats artiste Habeeb Olalomi, aka Portable, as a brand ambassador.

To LuckyBet, the signing transcends marketing strategy. It elevates the sports betting experience through the power of betting and entertainment, converging both sectors seamlessly for punters.

In this strategic move, LuckyBet acknowledged that Portable brings more than just promotional value. It signified a fundamental shift in how they approach sports betting. The company said that it recognises today’s bettors are not merely seeking odds and wagers but also want to identify with a relatable popular figure who inspires hope that fuels dreams.

Marketing Manager, LuckyBet, Necca Nnaji, elaborated on the choice of Portable as a brand ambassador, especially during economic hardship.

“We did our survey of who reflects our customer base, and LuckyBet decided to touch base with the grassroots level,” said Nnaji. “So, we decided to choose someone that shares the same story of grass to grace. Someone who can inspire the average person.”

Nnaji added, “He is someone who mirrors the vision of an average Nigerian who aspires to become something even when they feel like there is nothing they can be. This is our journey to inspire youths because that’s part of our community project.”

This collaboration highlights the deep-rooted impact of the Nigerian culture, which consistently pursues greatness in the face of adversity. The theme is aptly reflected in Portable’s career journey, which gained momentum after the release of his breakout hit ‘Zazoo Zeh’, featuring rapper Olamide and Poco Lee. LuckyBet’s selection of Portable as an artiste is a clear testament to the brand’s grasp of this grass-to-grace narrative.

Filled with excitement about the upcoming collaboration, Portable urged his fans to take a chance and place their bets. He believed this partnership would add an extra layer of thrill, encouraging them to be part of the excitement.

Driven by the slogan ‘Get Lucky, Get Rich’, the partnership, aside from increasing LuckyBet’s market shares, reach, and presence seeks to introduce responsible gambling practices to a broader audience by leveraging the artiste’s influence and resonance among the youth. Underscoring LuckyBet’s commitment to responsible gambling and community engagement to create an environment where players can enjoy the thrill of betting while ensuring responsible practices.

“We are working with some NGOs on the initiative of responsible gaming,” Head of Commercial, LuckyBet, Foye Johnson, disclosed strategic plans to curb underage betting.

“We are passionate about responsible gaming, and we won’t tolerate any underage betting. This is something that, if we find out, would not allow it,” said Johnson.

He added, “We are going to the extent of making sure that if anybody is trying to be addicted because betting is supposed

He added, “We are going to the extent of making sure that if anybody is trying to be addicted because betting is supposed to be entertainment, we have those NGOs to help. We can suspend accounts and things like that to make sure it doesn’t get out of hand.”
