GLG Communication Boss, Ogbe Wins Outstanding PR Personality of the Year

A Nigerian Public Relations expert and Managing Partner of GLG Communications, Omawumi Ogbe, has been recognised for her giant strides in public relations, as she emerged the winner of the coveted Outstanding PR Personality of the Year at the 2023 Annual Marketing Edge Brands and Advertising Excellence Awards recently.

At the glamorous gala, where she received the award held at The Podium, Lekki, Lagos, Ogbe, who expressed appreciation to the award organisers, said the recognition was a testament to her team’s hard work and dedication at GLG, who consistently push the boundaries of possibilities.

The night of glitz, glamour and excellence had many top industry leaders in attendance, including corporate Chief Executive Officers, professionals in public relations, marketing, advertising and the broader integrated marketing communications sector, government leaders, corporate and not-for-profit organisations, captains of industry, media personalities, academia and C-Suite executives from across the country.

According to her, “This award is not just for me but the collective geniuses at GLG Communications. We are very proud of what we have accomplished over the years, delivering quality and award-winning campaigns for our clients. I also share this award with all Nigerian PR practitioners who, despite many odds, remain committed to integrity and excellence.”

Prior to this recognition, Ogbe was nominated for the ‘PR Practitioner of the Year’ award at the 2022 LaPRIGA Awards, where she also led the GLG team to win ‘Best Innovation in PR’ for curating the GLG PR Power List, a first-of-its-kind celebration to honour outstanding PR professionals in Nigeria to mark World PR Day.

The PR expert is also the first female president of the Life Coaches Association of Nigeria(LCAN) and has received awards such as the 2019 Coaching Icon Award, the 2022 Leading Ladies Africa 100 Most Inspiring Women in Nigeria, and the 2022 Class of 40 under 40 Most Influential People of African Descent by MIPAD.

At the event, the Publisher/CEO of Marketing Edge Group, John Ajayi, congratulated all the winners, and said the organisation would continue to recognise sterling achievements across the Nigerian integrated marketing communications spectrum.

Ajayi remarked that: “Traditionally, the Marketing Edge Brands and Advertisement and Excellence Awards has become the acme of events in the social calendar of the integrated marketing communications industry in Nigeria, as well as a global talking point. We will continue to contribute our quota to the growth of the industry.”

This year’s 20th anniversary edition started with a National Marketing Stakeholders Summit with the CEO of X3M Ideas, Steve Babaeko, as keynote speaker and South Africa’s Ivan Moroke, the CEO of Kantar Insight Division as guest speaker.

The Marketing Edge Magazine Awards has become synonymous with celebrating the best and exemplary innovative minds in marketing, public relations and advertising.
