MTNF, Project Management Institute Train Scholars on Agile Methodology
MTN Foundation in partnership with Project Management Institute (PMI) Nigeria organised a five-day project management training through its Skill-Up workshop for the graduating MTN scholars.
The Skill-up workshop is a yearly skill acquisition initiative organised by the MTN Foundation, to train and equip graduating students, who are recipients of the Foundation’s scholarship scheme.
Speaking to the graduating scholars during the training, Executive Secretary MTN Foundation, Odunayo Sanya, represented by Portfolio Manager Youth Development, MTN Foundation, Pamela Emodi, highlighted that the training was designed to guide the scholars and ease them into life after school. “We collaborated with some of our ecosystem partners like Google, Oracle, Cisco, Microsoft and of course PMI to make platforms available for you to upskill while still in school, and this is to ensure you have an edge by the time you leave school. I encourage you all to use the skills you have acquired to your fullest advantage. To our partner, PMI, we are grateful for your commitment, and we are happy that you have come on this journey with us.”
Speaking on the importance of project management during the workshop, Lead Facilitator of the project management training, Alexander Babs-Jonah also highlighted how the scholars can proceed on to becoming professional agile project managers.
The annual MTN Foundation scholarship recognizes and rewards high performing students in Nigerian tertiary institutions. The scholarship is targeted at three categories of students – undergraduates in science and technology-related courses, blind students in any field of study and the top 10 candidates of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Nigeria.
This year, the Foundation is set to award 380 scholarships to eligible recipients, and also renew older scholarships.
