Neo Akpofure: I have Always been Fashionable from Childhood

Neo Akpofure is an actor, event host, model, and lifestyle influencer. He  rose to fame after emerging in the top 5 finalist of the 2020 Big Brother Naija TV show. It was then no surprise that he was selected for the recent All-Star edition of the popular reality show where he almost made it to the finals. Neo speaks to Ferdinand Ekechukwu about acting, plans in Nollywood and other ventures

Could you share how you ventured into acting and what it’s been like working with Inkblot Productions and the couple of movies you have featured?

Before 2020, professional acting was a new territory for me, but I’ve always been drawn to creative challenges. Venturing into acting was an adventure; a fresh, creative avenue I was eager to explore. I had done a few short films and another production yet to be released before the opportunity to work with Inkblot Productions came. Working with Inkblot did not just help me grow professionally; it has also expanded my horizons to grow as an individual. Being on “Palava” and “A Weekend to Forget” was a thrilling experience. Just getting to witness their professionalism firsthand and dedication to work ethics made it an enriching journey and a great learning curve for me. 

‘Palava’ allowed me to work with legends like Richard Mofe Damijo. It helped me stretch my acting potential, while the latest thriller, “A Weekend to Forget” allowed me to delve into a different character that people have never seen before. I am excited that people get to see my character BEM in the movie which just arrived cinemas September.

Are there any plans or aspirations to fully move into the movie industry?

Absolutely! My experiences with Inkblot Productions have solidified my passion for acting. The dynamic nature of Nollywood industry and ability to tell diverse stories resonates with me. While I’m deeply committed to my various roles as an actor, event host, model, and influencer, I do envision a more substantial presence in Nollywood. I’m excited about the potential to contribute my creativity and energy to the industry in the future.

You have this energetic personality that often reflects in you, your acts… Why is that so?

For me, it’s about spreading positivity and sparking enthusiasm. Life is too short to approach things half-heartedly. I’ve always believed energy can be infectious and inspire others to seize the moment. I am convinced that embracing life wholeheartedly is vital. My energy has the power to be contagious, motivating others to fully embrace the present. Whether on the stage hosting an event, creating one of my skating or treadmill videos, cooking, or fashion, etcetera, knowing that my spirit can uplift people and brighten their day is incredibly rewarding. It’s this sense of purpose, the ability to impact lives joyfully, that fuels my determination to bring an electrifying vibe to everything I do. 

How would you describe your style, and what inspired you to become a fashion and lifestyle influencer?

My style is an expression of my personality – bold, energetic, and unapologetically unique. It’s a fusion of classic and contemporary elements designed to make statement. While my mum tells me I have always been fashionable from childhood, I believe my main fashion journey began with the realization that style is a powerful form of self-expression. I wanted to inspire others to confidently embrace their individuality through their clothing choices. The positive feedback from people about my outfits and the impact it had on their confidence fueled my desire to not just become a fashion and lifestyle influencer but to leverage it as a message for people of all ages to embrace their own creativity and uniqueness. I look forward to doing so much with fashion and encourage everyone to stay connected as it unfolds. 

You are associated with various brands from different industries. What core values or personal beliefs keep you grounded and focused?

Authenticity and determination are at the core of everything I do. Remaining true to myself and my passion keeps me connected to my roots. My unwavering commitment to excellence and continuous self-improvement drives me to excel in each endeavor. Brands and their audiences want to see who you are and how it connects with what is relevant to them, and once you can bring that into the things you do, it will resonate. Regardless of whom you are working with. I believe that with hard work, dedication, and a positive mindset, I can contribute positively to every sphere I’m part of. This conviction serves as my guiding compass, steering me through the diverse paths I explore. There are some things I am working on that I cannot discuss just yet. But I know that with God and grace on my side, this is only just the beginning.
