With the National Professional Football League set to kick off this weekend the Niger State darling team, Niger Tornadoes of Minna and the Lobi Stars of Makurdi are to play their home matches away from home.

Tornadoes contrary to expectations that it will play it’s matches at the Kontagora Township Stadium will now play its home matches in Kaduna.

Lobi Stars will also travel to Lafia in Nasarawa State for it’s home matches instead of engaging it’s opponents on their home soil in Makurdi.

The NPFL was said to have given the directive after an inspection of facilities in the state capitals of the teams and their not being found suitable for the league in their present forms.

Garba Kuta, the image maker of Niger Tornadoes confirmed this in a terse statement made available to sportswriters yesterday.

Kuta said the NPFL has only  given provisional approval for Kano Pillars. Bayelsa Utd, Heartland, Abia Warriors and Gombr Utd to play their matches in their respective state capital

Kuta in another statement quoted the Chairman of the Niger Tornadoes FC, Mr. Ibrahim Dada of charging his boys to go all out for the three maximum points when they confront the Abia Warriors this weekend

“This first match is for me, go out there and get me the maximum points and see what I can do” Kuta quotes Mr. Dada as saying.

The Clubs spokesman also said the chairman tasked the players and their officials to maintain discipline and portray the state in good light in all the matches they will be engaged in.
