Football titans like Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Austin Eguavoen and the former Super Eagles star, Daniel Amokachi (The Bull), commended sports betting company, 1XBET, for grooming youth talents.

They made this remark at the unveiling of the tournament trophy and draws of the 1XBET Football Tournament in Lagos.

Eguavoen described the 1XBET Tournament as a window for players to display their God-given talents and possibly get the traction that will give their football careers wings.

For The Bull, he deepened the need to use football to unite Nigerians to be great again. “God used the AFCON in 1996 to unite South Africans.

“Although if the Super Eagles had participated as defending champions, the story may have been different. Bafana Bafana’s win at home meant so much to the people,” he admitted.

In his remarks, the Chairman of 1XBET, Dr Femi Babalola, said the organisation described the tournament as its Corporate Social Responsibility.

“It also shows how seriously we are taking this event that we brought together such football heavyweights.

“We want to go to the grassroots and help talented players showcase their skills,” he added.

On his part, Consultant to the Competition and former Eagles player Waidi Akanni sees football as a source of entertainment despite its money-spinning.

“Football is a big industry,” he chipped in. “But it is also entertainment. You can see what we have done at the trophy unveiling, using music, comedy and dance to entertain the audience.

According to Akanni, 1XBET uses the event to reach out to people at the grassroots and show them that they care.

“All I can say is that there will be more entertainment when the competition begins as 40 teams in Lagos State battle for honours,” he emphasised.
