In a press conference held yesterday in Abuja, the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) strongly denounced the ongoing oppression in Palestinian territories and called on the Nigerian government to cut ties with the State of Israel.
The group, led by Chairman, Resource Forum of IMN, Prof. Abdullahi Danladi, expressed deep concern for the dire situation faced by the Palestinian people.
He said, “ Over the past seventy-five years, the Israeli government has faced widespread criticism for its actions in the region, including allegations of violence, forced evictions, and significant loss of life, particularly among children and women.
They mentioned that, “ Sheikh Ibraheem Yaqoub El-Zakzaky, has consistently advocated for solidarity with oppressed communities worldwide, with a particular emphasis on the Palestinian cause. Recent events in the Middle East, especially in the occupied land of Palestine, have raised global concerns.
The group highlighted that Israel’s actions have repeatedly violated the United Nations Charter and related resolutions.
“ Support for the Palestinian people has poured in from various faiths and nationalities, including individuals from the Jewish community who share concerns about the ongoing conflict. Israel’s actions have contributed to its global reputation as a highly criticized state.”
They expressed their support for resistance efforts by groups like Hamas, emphasizing the principles of self-determination, self-defense, and the protection of rights.
Prof. Danladi also urged people to look beyond religious, racial, and other divisions, as recent attacks on churches and hospitals have demonstrated that the situation extends beyond religious conflicts.
The Islamic Movement believes that these actions constitute crimes against humanity and are indicators of Israel’s eventual decline.
He concluded, “On this note, we call on the Nigerian government to immediately sever all relations and ties with the state we view as a perpetrator of injustice. Ladies and gentlemen of the press, may I also use this platform to request prayers from all for Allah the Most-High to grant our Leader and his wife, who have traveled abroad for medical treatment, success in their recovery.
“ We commend the government of Bola Tinubu for facilitating the necessary travel documents, and we voice our opposition to the last administration’s approach to governance.” He said.
