Etim Effiong, Others Star in MINEE Coming to Cinemas Nationwide November 3
MINEE, an action-packed movie that promotes women’s resilience and positive impact, is set to hit cinemas nationwide in November with your favourite actors.
Among the stellar casts are Daniel Etim Effiong, Ireti Doyle, Segun Arinze, Ayo Adesanya, Tony Monjaro, Monica Friday and Bayray Nwizu among others.
MINEE, a modern morality tale, tells a captivating story of the many struggles of women while also portraying how a dysfunctional family can spiral into a breakdown of law and order in society.
At the premiere of the movie, the lead actress and Executive Producer, Kezy Kome, described the character MINEE as an adamant hustler, who wanted to break out of poverty without any involvement in shady deals.
She expressed: “MINEE is evidence that a woman can do anything and make it instead of running through the streets— whoring, drugs. Rather, taking up menial jobs to make money, the kind of jobs people believe are for men only.”
For Kome, it felt utterly good trying to walk in the shoes of people struggling and living in those cramped environments.
The producer is certain that it helped her get a hang of the intricacies of people’s experiences.
The actress emphasised: “A lot of ladies of pleasure we see on the streets are not pleased to do it, but circumstances pushed them into it.
“Also, most drug addicts are people living with trauma and try to hide from those traumas by taking drugs to numb the pain.”
While outlining some of these challenges, Kome lamented that society has no way of rehabilitating such vulnerable people, hence, they keep getting worse.
In her words: “Human parts trafficking is also a menace in Nigeria and not much is done to stop it.”
Commenting on the film, Nwizu sees MINEE as a story about mental health and how it affects family and society at large.
“When we saw the story,” she reminisced, “We knew it was something that we wanted to do.”
While conceding the competence of the director, Richard, whom she described as amazing, she added, “Once you see the thriller, you will know what I’m talking about.”
