Strike: Again, FG, Labour in Another Round of Talks

The Federal Government and leadership of the organised labour are meeting again Monday (today) less than 24 hours after a similar meeting was held.
The meeting began at 5.10pm at the Conference Room of the Chief of Staff to the President at the State House, Abuja.
The leadership of both the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are expected to brief the press on the outcome of the meeting they held earlier today with their organs on whether or not the workers will be going ahead with the planned indefinite strike from Tuesday.
The Federal Government had at the Sunday meeting told the labour unions about steps being taken to mitigate the suffering of workers due to the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu.
The Chief of Staff to the President, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, is leading the government team including the Labour and Employment Minister, Hon. Simon Lalong, to today’s meeting, while NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, is at the head of the labour delegation.
The two parties are expected to speak to the media after the meeting.
