CrusaderSterling Pension Partners LAWMA for Healthier, Cleaner Environment

In a remarkable display of corporate social responsibility and commitment to environmental sustainability, CrusaderSterling Pensions, a leading Pension Fund Administrator (PFA) in Nigeria, has partnered with the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) for a clean-up exercise in the Itedo area of Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, Nigeria.

The collaborative effort, which saw the participation of key community figures, including Chairman of the Lekki Residents Association (LERA), Mr. Yomi Idowu; Chairman of the Environment Committee of LERA, Ms. Tari Taylaur and renowned Nigerian Music Executive, Banke Wellington (Banky W), underscored LAWMA’s relentless dedication to ensuring a cleaner and more sustainable environment for Lagos State residents.

During the event, the Executive Director of CrusaderSterling Pensions Limited, Mr. Femi Dada, commended LAWMA for its unwavering commitment to promoting a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

Dada called upon the Lekki Residents to take a proactive role in maintaining the cleanliness of their community, stating that “keeping a clean environment is achievable if we are focused and determined to do so. Lekki is beautiful, but Lekki cannot be beautiful if it is filthy. Therefore, all hands must be on deck to uphold a clean environment.”

The Managing Director/CEO of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin,said that participating in this impactful initiative was a great delight.

Gbadegesin emphasised the agency’s ongoing partnership with the people of Lagos State to fulfill the goals of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s “THEME Plus” Agenda.

He emphasised the importance of maintaining a clean environment in the Freedom Way corridor and urged citizens to desist from littering, improper waste disposal, urinating in public spaces and defacing the environment.

He also highlighted the detrimental impact of poor management of waste disposal on health and the economy as “no one will invest in a filthy environment.”

Idowu, who is the chairman of LERA, assured that post-cleanup efforts would be established to sustain the improved state of the area, with LAWMA’s active enforcement support.

Taylaur, who is the chairman, Environment of Lekki Residents Association, reaffirmed LERA’s commitment to preserving a clean and sustainable environment, setting new standards for the community.

She stressed: “Filthy gutters and streets are no longer acceptable, and we all have our roles to play in maintaining cleanliness.” Tari also praised the LERA Chairman and LAWMA agency for their invaluable support in bringing this initiative to life.”
