Afrimedical Gets ISO Certification, Reaffirms Commitment to Provide Healthcare Solutions to Africa

Afrimedical Manufacturing and Supplies Ltd, a subsidiary of Mikano International Ltd, has received the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification.
The certificate confirming the company’s new status was presented to the Group Director, Mikano International Limited, Omar Karameh, by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria during a ceremony at the firm’s manufacturing plant in Ogun on Thursday.
The Director General of SON, Mallam Farouk Salim, said the 1SO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Standard provides Afrimedical with an opportunity and framework to satisfy its customers and retain their loyalty for long-term revenue and profitability.
According to him, by this achievement, the firm has joined a few privileged classes of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certified organisations in the medical device manufacturing sector in Nigeria.
He said: “This milestone achievement in the pursuit of service excellence is commendable and worthy of emulation by all service providers in Nigeria.”
Represented by the Director Management Systems Certification, SON, Obiageli Egbuchiem, Salim commended the organisation.
“You can attest to the fact that your ability to formalise your operational system that documents processes, procedures, and responsibilities for achieving quality policies and objectives recommended by the standard has strengthened your process efficiency, organisational culture, regulatory compliance, optimise continuous improvement efforts and adopt data for evidence-based decision making to the customers’ satisfaction.”
Salim also admitted that the medical device manufacturing in which Afrimedical operates is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by changing end-user requirements and global trends.
These changes in the medical devices manufacturing sector, the pandemic inclusive, he said, are significant, also bringing a host of new opportunities, as well as a range of new challenges.

Zayed emphasised that this certification signifies that their processes and systems meet the rigorous standards of the International Organisation for Standardisation.

The Assistant Director, Management System Certification, SON, Mrs Nene Obianwu, said: “Afrimedical Manufacturing and Supplies Limited was established in 2021 to furnish the healthcare industry with safe and reliable consumables, thereby providing healthcare solutions to Africa’s health needs and saving lives.
“The patent for disposable syringes was first obtained by Colin Murdoch in 1956, followed by the introduction of plastic disposable syringes in 1961 by Becton Dickson, which paved the way for manufacturing medical consumables.”
She described Afrimedical Manufacturing and Supplies Limited as one of the foremost medical solutions providers that protect against virus-related infections for medical institutions and professionals across Nigeria and Africa.
Obianwu listed the firm’s objectives to provide operational excellence in compliance with applicable regulations.
