Just In: Terrorists Attack Zamfara Community, Abduct 9 Persons

In the early hours of Friday, armed men suspected to be terrorists stormed Tsohuwar Kasuwa area of Kaura Namoda, in Zamfara state, abducted nine persons and rustled cattle.

A source who spoke to THISDAY in telephone conversation, said the terrorists stormed the area at about 2:00am.

Another source said the bandits abducted the nine persons from three residences.

According to him, they abducted two wives of one Alhaji Sabitu, including Umma Sabitu, Zulaihatu Sabitu; his three daughters, including Jamila Sabitu, Ihsan Sabitu and Hafsat Sabitu and his son, Hussaini Sabitu.

At the resident of one Rabe Sarkawa, the terrorists kidnapped Abdulshakur Rabe, and Mamu Rabe, while at the residence of one Sahabi Na Alaye, they abducted his daughter, Aisha Sahabi Na Alaye.

Security chiefs in state yesterday briefed Governor Dauda Lawal on the progress of the effort so far in rescuing the abducted female students of federal University Gusau, before another bandit struck again.

Zamfara state has become the epicentre of banditry in the region with no week without abduction or attack on a community.

Nevertheless, Governor Lawal has assured the people of the state that his administration would do everything possible to contain the menace, stressing he will never negotiate with terrorists.
