Employability Skills Initiative Concludes Second Phase of Training in Abuja

To empower Nigerian youths and equip them for a brighter future, ‘The Next Economy’, an employability skills initiative programme, has successfully concluded its second phase of training spanning from 2020 to 2023 in Abuja.

reiterated the significance of empowering youths during their transition to adulthood, especially considering their economic challenges.

Represented by the Programme Manager at SOS Children’s Villages, Gwagwalada, Felix Ebhota, the National Director, said Nigeria cannot afford to fail despite its numerous employability challenges, adding that the initiative aims to bolster self-confidence and furnish beneficiaries with skills requisite for thriving careers and entrepreneurial pursuits.

Operational in three key Nigerian cities, Lagos, Abuja and Jos, he said The Next Economy has played a pivotal role in shaping the aspirations of young individuals entering the competitive job market and the business landscape. 

Ebhota said, “The programme offers a diverse array of entrepreneurship programmes, expertly tailored to accommodate the multifaceted dreams and ambitions of Nigerian youth, empowering them to secure gainful employment or embark on the path of self-employment.

“The Next Economy” programme is a platform where youths are equipped with employability skills and entrepreneurship acumen, enabling them to thrive in the professional world.

One of the programme’s beneficiaries, Michael Onoseme, stated that ‘The Next Economy’ had armed him with the essential skills needed to excel in the business landscape. He emphasised that the programme has broadened his horizons regarding the possibilities in business, fostering resilience, and sharpening his ability to pitch business ideas to potential customers and investors effectively.
