FUTO Alumni Host Eminent Scholars, Entrepreneurs on Technology and Nigeria’s Sustainable Development

The alumni association of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), would engage eminent scholars and businesspeople in discussions that would shape the future of technology and development in Nigeria at the association’s 2023 Biennial Lecture.
Participants at the lecture, whose theme is “Nigeria’s Quest for Development: The Technological Fast Tracking,” would include the Chairman of MTN Nigeria, Dr. Ernest Ndukwe; the Executive Director of Business Services at Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), Mrs. Martina A. Atuchi; Director, Data Management Services, NIMASA, Mr. Chris Amakulo and former Managing Director of Shell Gas Nigeria Limited, Mr. E.D. Ubong, who will give the keynote address in an event that would “bring together luminaries from various sectors to discuss strategies for personal and national advancement.”
A press statement that was jointly signed by the Chairman of Biennial Lecture Series’ (BLS) Publicity and Media Committee, Mr. Ikukundu Iyke Anyanwu and Chairman BLS Planning Committee, Mr. Deus Uche Osuji, said that the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) of FUTO, Professor Emeka E. Oguzie, would delve into the topic: “Harnessing Technological Innovations for Sustainable Development in Nigeria,” which is a timely subject “given the rapid advancements in technology that have the potential to address pressing challenges in society, economy, and the environment.”
The guest of honour of the event that is scheduled to hold on October 19 in Lagos, would be the Vice-Chancellor of FUTO, Professor Nnenna N. Oti while FUTO Alumni National President, Professor Lazarus Uzoechi, would be the chief host.
“This year’s lecture will also feature a panel discussion anchored by the Chairman of AEO Foundation, Mr. Augustine Elochukwu Okeke, and comprising experts like Head of Business at WIOCC Nigeria, Mr. Slawomir Cieslinsk and the Group Managing Director of Telnet Nigeria Limited, Mr. Folorunso Aliu.
“The biennial lecture, now in its 7th edition, with the theme, “Nigeria’s Quest for Development: The Technological Fast Tracking” has a history of tackling significant national challenges.
“This year’s gathering promises to be an enlightening experience, offering participants the opportunity to exchange ideas, gain valuable insights, and connect with industry leaders,” the public statement said.
