Celebration, excitement as family, friends host new Lagos AG, Lawal Pedro

Following his new appointment as the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Lagos State, friends, family and colleagues of legal icon, Alhaji Mohammed Lawal Pedro, recently gathered at the Suru Express Plus Hotel, Ikeja, to celebrate him and welcome a new dawn in the state judicial system.

Speaking at the event, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Haldane McCall, Prince Edward Akinlade, who is the chief host, praised Pedro’s legal prowess and expressed the confidence that the new attorney general would make positive changes in Lagos’s judicial system.

While acknowledging the crucial role played by the commissioner’s wife in his success, Akinlade also recounted a special case that Pedro successfully handled for him in 2019, emphasizing his exceptional legal skills and humility.

His legal colleagues, Barristers Omolola Satir and Abolanle Bakare also spoke about their deep and inspiring relationships with the commissioner, portraying him as a remarkable mentor and influencer.

The celebration took a personal turn with “My Father, My First Love,” where Pedro’s daughter, Mrs. Mariam Pedro Tijani, shared her admiration for his character and his impact on her life.

She described him as her pride, saying due to his immense contribution to the legal profession, his influence is being acknowledged in the Akwa Ibom State judiciary.

His second daughter, Dr. Abiola Pedro, also paid glowing tribute to her father. In her presentation titled “Knowing the Man”, she described the attorney general as an accomplished individual who has transformed many lives and been chosen by God to shape others’ destinies.

Also at the event, Bayo Akinlade presented a citation with a touching tribute to Pedro.

Other speakers who paid tribute to Pedro include Ahaji Fatai Balogun, Barrs. George Oguntade SAN and Bolanle Olugbemi.

In his response, Pedro expressed gratitude to his friends and family for the celebration.

He stated that the event was the second since his appointment as the attorney general and commissioner of Justice for Lagos State.

The attorney general shared a memorable professional experience where he received a commendation from Justice Mustapher, who later became the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court.

Pedro, who said Justice Mustapher’s words inspired him, also reflected on the journey that led him to his current role.

The event concluded with the cutting of the celebratory cake by the commissioner and his wife, Alhaja Lawal Pedro, followed by photographs with well-wishers and friends.
