In a significant development within the automotive sector, LAC Autos and Spares Ltd, an OEM business service provider, recently unveiled its first truck service centre at a formal event held in Lekki, to showcase its commitment to raising maintenance and support standards for its clientele of commercial vehicle operators.

Driven by the core value of providing fast, efficient services, and durable spare parts (FED) to its customers, the business service provider leverages its strategic partnerships with Chinese automobile manufacturers FAW Trucks, and Hongyan Truck, among others, to facilitate a seamless end to end after-sales service experience.

Business Director, LAC Autos and Spares Ltd, Femi Olushakin emphasised that regular and prompt maintenance of mobile assets will ensure less downtime and reduce financial losses for business operators that cut across various industries such as oil and gas, FMCG, and real estate.

“In Nigeria, it’s perplexing how people utilize trucks for six or seven years without grasping their true state and functionality. In the Western world, these trucks are renowned for their capacity to endure and cover approximately a million kilometres, which roughly equals a decade of use.”

Olushakin added, “We just don’t want to sell trucks only. We want to make sure we provide end-to-end services from the point of technical advisory services to purchasing, and synergising finance for them to acquire trucks, as well as provide the right kind of maintenance to adopt to realise that return on investment after a while.

On his part, Chairman, LAC Autos and Spares, Olurotimi Ashley-Dejo, noted that the service centre’s launch was a well-placed intervention at a time when a vast majority of oil and gas products are transported via trucks, covering for a dearth in capital-intensive infrastructure (rail and pipeline) in the downstream sector.

Strategically located in Lekki, Olushakin disclosed that the expansion of the company’s presence into other regions will accommodate the growing demand for repair and maintenance services from its extensive customer base. “This expansion will include recruiting and training more technicians to ensure exceptional service delivery,” he concluded.
