TCK Zone Partners Team Masters To Train 500,000 Children In Over 3000 Africa Schools

Lagos NGO Partners TeamMasters To Empower Young Africans In Digital Economy

Lagos based NGO, The Creative Kids Zone (TCKZone) is partnering Team Masters Limited for a 16-month digital skills fellowship project aims to empower and transform the lives of 500,000 young children between 7 and 17 years in Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya, by providing them with accessible and affordable digital skills training.

The partnership between two educational platforms seeks to bridge the digital divide and foster a brighter future for underserved communities.

The project focuses on equipping young minds in primary and secondary school with the essential skills needed to excel academically, socially and professionally. Through a meticulously crafted curriculum, participants will gain competitive digital skills, enhance their academic performance and develop their leadership abilities. This comprehensive program strives to harness the potential of technology to uplift communities and prepare the younger generation for the challenges and opportunities of the modern world.

The project’s implementation will commence with a thorough mapping of densely populated underserved communities in Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya. These findings have led to the identification of 3,000 schools across 57 underserved communities as the primary target for the initiative. To ensure the project success, a team of 100 community volunteers and teachers will be trained and deployed to facilitate hands-on trainings at these locations. The dynamic approach includes sensitization campaigns, active stakeholder engagement, suitable training venue identification, student mobilization, scheduled learning sessions and collaboration with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) dedicated to children intervention programs.

The project holds a unique place in education and community development for several reasons. First, it offers an innovative and comprehensive program to equip African children with essential digital skills, empowering them for a technology-driven future. Second, it fosters an evolved teaching methodology that facilitates stronger teacher-student connections, positioning educators as mentors and guides. Third, the program blends physical and immersive learning experiences, allowing participants – most of whom are digital novices, to interact with modern digital technologies and applications. This is especially significant as many participants come from low-income households with limited exposure to technology.

One of the project’s standout feature is its commitment to bridging the digital divide by establishing ICT infrastructure in selected underserved communities. This infrastructure is meant to ensure equal access to learning materials and enhance sustainable impact, creating safe spaces for young minds to explore innovative and creative skills essential for future opportunities.

With the project,Oludamilola Soyombo, said the partnership envisions a new era of notable progress for Africa, driven by the transformative power of technology. ‘This initiative aims to overcome the challenges faced by underserved communities, empowering young people to become catalysts of digital economy. By providing them with essential technology skills such as
coding, design, robotics, game development, web development, and mobile app creation, we are positioning children to thrive in a rapidly evolving world. As the project unfolds, we anticipate witnessing the positive and lasting impact on these communities, paving the way for a future where African children are at the forefront of technological innovation’ She noted.
