Managing Director of UpdateAfrika Communications, Joseph Effiong has charged African youths on resilience and determination, just as he was declared ‘Young African Media Entrepreneur of the Year’ at the 2023 Africa Illustrious Award that held recently in Lagos.
Organised by My Media Africa, Africa Illustrious award is esteemed as Africa’s most reputable award for African achievers and seeks to recognise individuals and organisations who have exhibited exceptionally strong and innovative leadership, as well as rare philanthropies.
The award initiative honoured exemplary icons in different spaces that span tech, humanity entrepreneurs, businesses and entertainment, amongst others.
Effiong’s conferment followed his exploits to the youthful population and the less privileged society.
As a communication specialist, he has displayed rare excellence and leadership traits that have distinguished him among peers and driven his business to an enviable heights.
The organisers referred to Effiong’s philanthropies as legendary, ranging from his empowerment for widows, indigent students and other gestures that have restored hope and found directions for many.
Commenting, Effiong said the award was a testament to the relentless and can-do spirit of African youths, which have continued to pave way for them in their different destinations.
“This award signposts the fact that Africa’s youths still have a reason to carry their shoulders high in pride knowing that they can achieve whatever they have set their minds upon.
“Truly, the efforts of our Pan- African leaders who fought for freedom and independence must not be in vain. We must collectively protect our commonwealth from oppressors and sit tight leaders. We must protect democracy at all costs. However, in the face of all these charades to undermine the fruits of development, youths of Africa’s descent must continue to make a difference positively. I am glad I am found worthy of this recognition”, he said.
