Police Commence Investigation into Borno Commissioner’s Death

The Borno State Police Command has commenced investigation into the death of the state’s commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RRR), Mr. Ibrahim Idriss Garba.

Garba died around 10am yesterday at his Guest House in 777 Housing Estate in Maiduguri. He was suspected to have been poisoned

A statement by the spokesman to Governor Babagana Zulum, Malam Isa Gusau, confirmed the commencement of investigations to unraveled his death even as he is yet to be buried as at the time of filing this report.

The statement by Gusau read that the state commissioner of police was at the house where Ibrahim died.

He said: “Governor Babagana Umara Zulum received the news with intense shock and profound grief. The governor mourns alongside the late commissioner’s family, other loved ones, friends, associates, and members of the state executive council.

Late Garba was the governor’s Special Adviser on Special Projects before he was elevated and appointed Commissioner for RRR, at the commencement of Zulum’s ongoing second term.

The governor prayed that: “May Allah forgive the commissioner’s shortcomings and admit him into Aljanna.”
