The Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau, has said the Governor Bala Mohammed-led administration has increased investments in education infrastructure, teacher training, and curriculum development in the state to ensure that children in the state receive the best quality education.
He made this known yesterday when he participated at a summit for serving Deputy Governors of Nigeria and the 2023 National Conference of the Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria (FFDGN) held at Fraser Suites, Central Business District, Abuja. He noted that one of the key sectors focused by the state government is the provision of quality education, saying education is the cornerstone of progress and development, as it equips future generation with the necessary skills and knowledge to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the country.
Jatau also said at the moment, with his unwavering support as his deputy, and cabinet members as well as other stakeholders and the people of the state, the governor has made significant strides in promoting good governance and enhancing the welfare of the people of the state.
The deputy governor also said that: “It is a privilege for me to be on this platform of highly distinguished individuals who have made (and are still making) positive contributions in the service of our great country, Nigeria.
“As deputy governors, we are in a unique position to bridge the gap between the government and the people. We must serve as effective channels for communication, ensuring that the concerns and aspirations of the people are brought to the forefront of policy and decision-making processes.”
Jatau added: “The theme of this conference, ‘Enhancing the Delivery of Quality Democratic Dividends in Nigeria’, resonates with the aspirations of the Nigerian people.
“As public servants, it is our duty to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every citizen, regardless of their social status or geographic location.”
He said the state government recognised the importance of accountable and transparent governance and remains focused in the implementation of various initiatives in order to promote good governance and block leakages.
“As we navigate the twists and turns of nation-building, from my experiences in the state and National Assemblies, the duty is enormous and we must do it for the good of democracy.
“It is my considered opinion that an assemblage of strategic stakeholders, with varying political persuasions and affiliations from across the country, is very timely, auspicious, and commendable,” the deputy governor said.
Jatau then reaffirmed his support and loyalty to the state Governor, Mohammed, to enable him to enhance performance in the delivery of quality democratic dividends to the citizenry.
