Jenniez School of African Interior Design (JSAID) is set to hold its 5th Edition of the Blueprint Conference on October 28, 2023 in Lagos, in a bid to boost collaboration between interior designers and real estate developers in Nigeria.

The event themed ‘Interior Design and Real Estate – The Dynamic Duo’ will have government officials, Interior designers and stakeholders in the real estate industry.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday ahead of the event, Jennifer Chukwujekwe, founder of JSAID, said unlike the previous editions , this year’s own will centre on the need and importance of collaboration between interior designers and real estate developers.

“We found out that most developers in the country are doing projects themselves which should not happen. So, I am hoping that the conference will create awareness about interior design, the importance, and why you need to have an interior designer. Interior design should be seen as a way of life “she said.

She said most of the developers coming for the event are excited to know that they have people in the industry to collaborate with.

“Collaboration is the new competition now. We all need to work together to make things better. I am hoping to see developers and interior designers work together to come up with ideas to create beautiful homes for people,” she added.

Edgar Ayalogu, Head of Strategy and Business at JSAID, said people in the real estate industry tend to do everything themselves from the start to the finishing of the building design.

“There is more an interior designer can offer the industry by changing the way the space feels and making a difference,” he said.

The interior design industry is one of the fastest growing industry in the creative sector. Although emerging talents have learned and developed creative skills, many have limited knowledge and experience on how to run a successful interior design business.

According to Mrs Jennifer Chukwujekwe who is also the President of Interior Designers Association of Nigeria, the conference will also empower interior designers, skilled workers, creatives, artisans, manufacturers and small to medium enterprises in the industry.

“It is one of the few programs that bring together interior design industry partners annually, to build partnerships and collaborations, and to foster peer learning and knowledge sharing around design,” she said.

Established in 2016, JSAID which has trained over 500 srudents holds a solid reputation as a highly involved interior design school within our community, according to JSAID.
