Pistis Foundation Empowers 5000 to Mark Fifth Anniversary                      

A non-profit organisation, Pistis Foundation has empowered no fewer than 5000 less privileged persons in the country as part of activities to mark its fifth anniversary.

The foundation which was set up specifically to lift the underserved community said it had delivered on its set objectives five years ago and aimed to do better.

Founder and Board Chairman of Pistis, Godman Akinlabi   during a press conference in Lagos, disclosed the foundation’s core areas of intervention as health, education and shelter, adding that for its fifth anniversary, it has decided to scale up its health intervention through its annual Ubomi free medical and surgical outreach.

 Akinlabi said, “Recognising that robust health is instrumental in fostering meaningful societal change, our objective is to contribute to the betterment of national well-being. In doing so, we aspire to equip citizens to take an increasingly proactive role in the country’s growth and development.”

Speaking further, Executive Director of the Foundation, Mr. Leonard F. Thomas stressed that the foundation was determined to create more impact in the community going forward.

“In the past four years, we have effectively conducted over 13,000 health interventions, encompassing a wide spectrum of healthcare services, including eye care, dental surgeries, fibroid surgeries, and various other medical treatments. In addition, we cultivate enduring relationships with the beneficiaries of our outreach initiatives, aiding their transition from a state of vulnerability to being self-sufficient,” he said.

Moreso, representative of Pro-Health International, a technical partner for Ubomi Outreach, Dr. Femi Owagbemi pledged continued support and follow-up for beneficiaries of Pistis’ health scheme. “Over the years, our organisation, with the aid of volunteers, has endeavoured to deliver high-quality healthcare both during and after the Ubomi outreach, offering a glimmer of hope to the less privileged. It has been an immense honour to collaborate on this noble endeavour with the Pistis Foundation for the past three years,” he stated.
