Former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, yesterday urged all Nigerians, especially politicians to get down to the business of rebuilding Nigeria with the final seal on the Tinubu presidency as affirmed by the Supreme Court judgment.
Reacting to the judgment that upheld the earlier ruling of the Court of Appeal on the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he said the judgment had effectively ended all jostling on politics and leadership.
“What the Supreme Court did is not just to affirm the validity of President Bola Tinubu’s mandate, but a call to duty. The learned Justices saved Nigeria from unnecessary and prolonged distractions by promptly giving their verdict so that we can get down to the task of rebuilding our country.
“Whatever each of the protagonists may feel, this is not a victory for President Tinubu alone or any political party. This is admonition for us to collectively work towards fixing Nigeria again,” Omo-Agege said.
In a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Mr. Sunny Areh, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State commended the Supreme Court and the entire judiciary for putting Nigeria first and upholding the rule of law.
“One remarkable feature of our judiciary is that despite all challenges facing the country, despite all seeming uncertainties, our Supreme Court has always displayed an independent and calming disposition on the country. This is one such instance. Our justices must be commended for their service to the country.
“Now is the time to jettison politics and work with President Tinubu to get Nigeria working again. It is now a matter of duty to our people. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Mr. Peter Obi, their political parties and followers should think Nigeria first, not just because the Supreme Court is the final arbiter, but the higher interest of the people, who we are all aspiring to serve, to support and collaborate with the President to get Nigeria back on track”, he added.
Also a Delta State-born development and environmental justice advocate, Chief Mulade Sheriff, has called on all candidates that lost to President Bola Tinubu to accept the outcome of the Presidential election result and the Supreme Court judgement in good faith
In his congratulatory message personally signed, he strongly and firmly expressed the belief that the said judgement reflected the wishes and aspirations of Nigerians and equally called on citizens to work with President Tinubu to achieve his Renewed Hope Agenda for Nigerian people.
Chief Mulade, who is the Ibe-sorimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom and a critical stakeholder in the Niger Delta agitation for development, described President Tinubu as a man of simplicity and sagacity with basic knowledge for good governance and development from his antecedent as Governor of Lagos State
He urged other candidates to accept the outcome and work with Mr. President for the interest of all Nigerians and our dear country.
Similarly, Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory at the Supreme Court, which affirmed his election as the president of Nigeria in the 2023 polls.
In a press statement issued yesterday, Senator Dafinone hailed the verdict of the apex court as a reflection of the will of the people, who gave President Tinubu a landslide victory in the February 23 election.
He commended the Supreme Court for upholding the rule of law and the integrity of the electoral system, by dismissing the petitions filed by the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), who challenged the outcome of the election.
He said the court had demonstrated its independence and impartiality, as well as its respect for the constitution and the democratic principles that guide the nation.
Senator Dafinone urged all Nigerians, regardless of their political affiliations, to accept the verdict of the court and rally behind President Tinubu as he continues to implement his Renewed Hope agenda for a prosperous and united Nigeria.
He also called on the opposition candidates, Peter Obi of LP and Atiku Abubakar of PDP, to shed their grievances and put hands together with Tinubu to build a better Nigeria.
