The pioneer President of the International Advertising Association (IAA) and convener of Innovation Series, Dr. Tunji Olugbodi, has recommended Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Nigerian players in the creative industry as the best solution to enhance creativity, as well as unlocking new opportunities in advertising, entertainment and storytelling in Africa.
Olugbodi, who is also the Managing Director of Verdant Zeal, also stated that AI would help restore ancient art, translate endangered languages and assist in the digitisation of cultural artifacts.
Giving his opening remark at the 11th edition of the annual summit and master class organised by Verdant Zeal Group with the theme: “The Future of Africa’s Creative Industries in the Era of Artificial Intelligence,” Olugbodi said he was sure that in one way or the other, that everyone has been impacted by Artificial Intelligence; whether positively, negatively, or neutral. He reasoned that whatever the experience has been for anyone, today, that the story of how collectively technology, creativity, and innovation are converging to shape the future of Africa’s creative landscape will be told.
On how technology can enhance storytelling, the top advertising practitioner explained that “Africa has a wealth of stories waiting to be told. AI can help creators analyse data and trends to craft stories that resonate with audiences. Moreover, AI can assist in language translation, making African stories more accessible to a global audience yearning for African content.”
Principal Partner, Cubed Integrated Management Consulting, Dr. David Abodunrin, shed light on Africa’s vast resources and the continent’s untapped potential.
He emphasised the unique minerals found exclusively in Africa, highlighting the extent to which they positively impact the global industrial landscape if well utilised.
He challenged the audience to ponder on the disparity between Africa’s wealth of resources and its current industrialization status.
