Nigeria to Host Agric Machines, Equipment, Technology Expo

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in collaboration with the CBNetwork Global Concept and other major stakeholders has concluded plans to host the world at the Africa Agricultural Machines Equipment and Technology Expo (AAMETEX) in Abuja from November 21 to 24, 2023.

The Director, Federal Development of Agriculture and Food Security, A.G Abubakar,  during the inaugural brainstorming session with other stakeholders in the sector and government agencies, emphasised on the need for a switch to modern agriculture and innovation in order to ensure food and nutrition security.

He said Aametex 2023, with the theme: ‘Transforming Africa’s Agriculture through Technology and Innovation’ is designed to be a forum to highlight and promote the numerous investment opportunities in the Africa’s agriculture and agribusiness ecosystems through design and development of innovative agricultural equipment, machinery and technologies in the light of Africa’s economic diversification agenda and the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) initiative.

According to him, “This platform will provide for organisations, immense opportunities for visibility, business networking and symbiotic relationship for growth and development resulting from interphase among participants drawn across the African continent and the world in general.”

Abubakar further stated that Africa Agricultural Machines Equipment and Technology Expo promises to showcase the best proven practical solutions from Africa and around the world in addressing issues affecting agricultural mechanisation and food insufficiencies in Africa.

The director added that: “Over 2,000 participants and exhibitors are expected to gather at this event, comprising heads of government, government agencies, Chambers of Commerce, trade groups and associations, farmers from across Africa as well as venture capitalists.

“Policy makers, technocrats, financial institutions, machinery and equipment vendors from across the globe are also expected to grace the event. AAMETEX will also feature plenary sessions, interactive sessions, breakout sessions and B2B meetings, and exhibitions and experience with corporate spotlights from different organisations and countries would be shared among others.”

Also, the Event Director, Prince Gbenga Agboola, in an interview, said at the end of the event, several implementable recommendations towards the positioning of Nigeria and Africa for the fourth industrial revolution in the agriculture sector would emerge.
