A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Olorogun Bernard Okumagba, has congratulated the party senators representing the state and a member of the Federal House of Representatives for their victories at the Appeal Court.
The former Delta State Commissioner for Finance, in a statement issued yesterday, felicitated Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, representing Delta South senatorial district; Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central senatorial district, and Hon. Francis Waive, a member representing Ughelli South/Ughelli North/Udu federal constituency over yesterday’s Appeal Court decisions, which affirmed their victories in the February 25 general election.
Congratulating Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, he said the Appeal Court’s pronouncement was “a vindication of what the constituents of our senatorial district already know that Senator Thomas won the popular vote and has the support of the people.”
Okumagba added that the victory at the Appeal Court, which is the final arbiter for legislative positions, should bring everyone together to work for the interest and well-being of the people of the Delta South senatorial district.
He urged Senator Thomas to stay true to his campaign promises, which gave him the victory at the poll, noting that: “I am gratified as a proud indigene of Delta South senatorial district that Senator Thomas has not disappointed so far. His brilliance and advocacy displayed so far in the Senate is proof that the people of Delta South senatorial district took the right decision in voting for him.”
Okumagba also urged the senator to stay committed to fair representation and the equitable distribution of development among the four indigenous ethnic groups (Ijaw, Isoko, Itsekiri, and Urhobo) in the senatorial district as he continues on the rest of his first term.
He urged the three victorious lawmakers to focus on reconciliation and development towards advancing the well-being of all Deltans.
