TotalEnergies Kicks off Peace Football Tourney for OML58 Host Communities

TotalEnergies EP Nigeria Limited, TEPNG/NNPCL Joint Venture has commenced its 20th edition of the annual football competition organised for the youths of the OML58 host producing communities in Rivers State.
Recalled that the competition began in 2002 following the decision of the NNPC/TEPNG Joint Venture to galvanise cordial relationship and promote peace in its host communities cut across four local government areas of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Ikwerre, Ahoada East and Ahoada West.
The 18 communities participating in this year’s tournament held at Okah Memorial Secondary School, Elele Okinali, include; Akabuka, Erema, Akabta, Ede, White, Ibewa, Obagi, Obite and Obiyebe.
Others are; Oboburu, Ogbogu, Idu, Amah, Elele Alimini, Rumuekpe, Obunwo, Union and host Elele Okinali community.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of the tournament yesterday, the Deputy Managing Director, JV Asset, Mr Guillaume Dulout said the competition is the company’s demonstration of commitment to engage the youths in positive venture that promotes sustainable socio-economic development as well as empowerment.
Dulout said: “Following the huge success of the 18th and 19th editions of this tournament, and the sustained peace in our areas of operation, we have retained the theme for the two previous editions: “Playing for Peace “.
He said this edition further emphasises their message of peace as a driver of community development and prosperity.
Represented by Mr Jacob Ologe, Manager, Capacity Development and Enterprise, Dulout commended the youths for playing active roles in securing the environment and the company’s facilities
The DMD reassures “commitment of the the NNPC/TEPNG Joint Venture, to continue identifying with the youths in their efforts to engage in purposeful endeavors, including sporting activities such as football”.
