Chairperson, Sali Hoe Foundation, Ifeyinwa Onwukeme, has said  greed, ignorance and lack of empathy  by some of Nigerian leaders are preventing Nigeria from  having one of the best cancer centres in the world.

Onwukeme, who pointed these out in a statement,  noted these factors have led to countless death from cancer disease in the country.

According to her,  reports have shown that cervical cancer kills one woman every hour in Nigeria with the disease becoming a  menace in the country. She believed it was time to put an end to it.

Onwukeme recalled in year 2010, the love for humanity led her and team to start a registered non govermental organization known as Sali Hoe Foundation. “We have been in existence for 12 years and still counting by God’s grace. Our vision is to have a society that is completely free of cervical cancer. Please visit website for details of all activities.”

She noted Sali Hoe Foundation was committed to making sure women will have acess to free cervix screening. “Early screening can detect Human papiilloma virus (HPV) before it prelude to cervical cancer. HPV is one of the risk factors for cervical cancer (gynecologic cancer).”

“Our goal is to situate a standard and well equipped free cervix screening and vaccination center with automated machines where all women will access free Cervix screening, case management, vaccine, re-screening, and follow-up care irrespective of their status or backgrounds,” she pointed out.

According to her, the foundation is  starting the first fundraising campaign since the onset of our organization. “Please  contribute towards this huge project to save lives, with your contribution we can continue our educational programs, ignorance remains the underlying risk factors for most Nigerian women.

“We are also engaging in our new initiative of starting a free standard cervical cancer screening and vaccination center so we can shine light on women,” she stated.
