Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Songs of Victory
When Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan contested to represent her people in the Kogi Central Senatorial District on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), she had hoped to use the platform to serve her people. She toured the nooks and crannies of the communities and also walked the length and breadth of the neck of the woods, selling herself to them.
She worked really hard and they all assured her of their unflinching support and she went to bed with her two eyes closed, relying on their promises. On the day of the election, February 25, 2023, the light-skinned politician was sure of victory as she was aware that the people had kept to their vows.
However, it was a different story when the result was announced. Her main rival, Abubakar Ohere of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was announced winner of the election.
No doubt, she felt cheated, and consequently, was distraught and devastated. At the same time, she remained unperturbed and held on to her abiding belief that “Never give up on what you believe in.”
She assured her numerous fans that she would regain her stolen victory. The beautiful lady told whoever cared to listen that her mandate would definitely come back to her. True to her words, in September, the election tribunal sitting in Lokoja nullified Ohere’s victory and declared Akpoti-Uduaghan the winner.
However, not satisfied, Ohere approached the Appeal Court, but once again, Natasha remained unruffled as she was sure that victory would definitely come to her. So, last Tuesday, the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, affirmed her as the winner of the election and dismissed the appeal filed by Ohere for lacking in merit.
At the moment, Akpoti-Uduaghan is singing the song of victory and dancing the dance of joy.
