Super Cop, Kafaru Tinubu’s Memory Lingers on

To his wife, he was a dependable rock and pillar. He was a hero to his children. To the society and community at large, he was a great man and tower of strength whose contribution would never be forgotten.

Kafaru’s memory is like the popular and deathless saying: “The memories of those we love do not go away, they walk beside us every day. Unheard but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.”

Though Kafaru, a brilliant super cop and lawyer, died 20 years ago, the beautiful memories he shared with his family still linger.

On October 28, 2023, the lawyer was remembered by his immediate family, friends as well as well-wishers, as they once again poured emotional tribute for him in the papers. In one of the paid memorials, his widow,  Bintu Tinubu, in an emotional-laden tribute, wrote:

“The world changes from year to year and our lives from day to day, but the love and memories of you shall never pass away.

“As I commemorate the 20th anniversary of your passing, I pay tribute to an incredible man who was not only my husband but also a shining example of love and devotion. Your presence continues to fill our home, and your love still warms my heart.

I miss you today just as much as I did the day you went away and will always remember the wonderful moments we shared and the legacy you left behind.

Lovingly remembered by your beloved wife’’ In another heart-rending message,  Semiu Tinubu, on behalf of the children and grandchildren, wrote:

“As we mark the 20th anniversary of your passing, we are blessed with loving recollections of you being the perfect gentleman, a devoted family man, and a guiding light who meant the world to us.

“As our father, grandfather, brother and uncle, your legacy lives on through the values you instilled in us, the memories we treasure, and the family bonds you strengthened as a source of your endless love and wisdom.

“We continue to pray that your gentle soul rests in perfect peace.’’

Also, President Bola Tinubu sent a powerful tribute to the man he described as the finest selfless gentleman.

“He was an honourable man; he was noble. He believed in defending the weak against the strong and standing for what is just even at the cost of personal liberty. He was my fortress in the dark days of oppression. He was my rock who also left a legacy that is larger than life. We will continue to celebrate Baba as well as the values and principles he exemplified,” the president wrote.
