A group of terrorists last Sunday attacked Allawa town in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, where they reportedly burn down two military trucks and two trailers loaded with food items.

THISDAY learnt that the whereabouts of the soldiers in the military truck is still unknown

It was gathered that not less than two villagers, one of them described as Dantala Gyari, were killed while one Mamman Gambo sustained serious gunshot injuries during the invasion of the community by the terrorists who struck on the village market day.

They were said to have arrived in the community in large numbers and first attacked the military post during which they burnt down the trucks thereby demobilising the security men after which they stormed the village market square where they burnt down the trucks and some motorcycles.

It was, however, learnt that the security operatives in the state capital have sent reinforcement to the community to dislodge the terrorists.

The District Head of Allawa, Alhaji Ibrahim Allawa, when contacted, confirmed the story, describing the incident as a sad day for them.

All efforts to get the government confirmation of the story did not succeed as the Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Internal Security, Alhaji Tareeq Abdulkhareem, did not respond to calls made to his cell phone

Also, the state Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, could not be reached for confirmation of the story.
