Police Parade 18 Suspects for Robbery, Murder,  Possession of Indian Hemp in Ondo

The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Asabi, has paraded 18 suspects for various crimes including armed robbery, rape, cultism, unlawful possession of Indian hemp and other vices across different locations in the state.

 Parading the suspects before the Journalists at the State Command Headquarters in Akure, the commissioner said the arrest was part of achievements made by the command in the last four weeks.

Particularly, Asabi said the police arrested a community leader, Mr Moses Adeyemo for allegedly shooting two persons during the celebration of the popular Ajagbo Festival in Ogbagi community in Akoko North west local government area of the state.

He said: “On the 19th of October, 2023 a case of attempted murder was reported against Moses Adeyemo, the Sajowa of Ogbagi Akoko. The chief shot the youths who were celebrating the Ajagbo festival while on procession to the Palace claiming the youths were singing ridiculous songs in the community.

“Police operatives visited the scene and found six expended cartridges with two victims injured from the bullet wound, victims were rushed to the hospital and the Chief was arrested while four dane guns, two cutlasses and a double barrel gun were also recovered from the scene of the crime.

“In the same vein, on the same day, one Olulayo Moyoloye of kidimo camp, via Irele, attempted to behead his brother one Daniel Moyoloye, 35 years with a sharpened cutlass, the suspect chopped off the left arm of his brother used to defend the cutlass. The suspect who absconded from the farm was arrested few days after the incident.”

The suspect claimed his brother accused him of stealing his palm fruit and this led to a heated argument between them. And out of anger, he brought out a cutlass and macheted his left arm and immediately fled into the bush.”

Asabi said the police also apprehended Abdullahi Jose for unlawful possession of two human hands, stressing that investigation is ongoing to get further information from the suspect.

“On the 24th of July, 2023, men of Ikare Akoko Division while on Stop and Search sighted a Motorcyclist who from afar abandoned his motorcycle and fled into the bush. During the search of the Motorcycle, the Police found two human hands, an Itel phone and ATM card. The Police through the use of modern day technology were able to arrest one Abdullahi Jose in connection with the case recently, at Okene, Kogi State.”

For armed robbery and murder, Asabi said On the 28th of October, 2023, the Police was informed about an attack, that one Shahabi Jadi was matcheted to death along Ehinowo camp via Ondo town.

“Upon receipt of the information, Police, through intelligent gathering, arrested one Blessing Okon, 20years, during interrogation, the young man gave viable information that led to the arrest of the following suspects: Gabriel Japhet, 26 years, Osha Phenus, 23 years and Gbenga Timothy, 22 years. The suspect further stated that deceased was a member of their robbery squad but they had a scuffle when he cheated them and refused to give them their share of the proceed of their loots.

For unlawful possession of Indian hemp, he explained that “on 25th of October, 2023, Police got an Intel that some young men were seen along Ijare road via Akure, heading towards Ikota Junction along Ijare road with vehicle suspected to contain incriminating items.

“Operatives of Special Weapons and Tactics, swung into action and arrested one Sunday Akinfisoye, 23years at a criminal hideout. While conducting a search, 69 bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp was recovered from the suspect.”
