Sotunde who spoke about the forthcoming 7th edition of the event summit stated that “BusyBee Event Business Summit is an annual conference, which started in November 2017.  It is designed to foster sound entrepreneurial practices amongst event professionals such as event planners, decorators, caterers, and the general event ecosystem.

From inception, the summit has hosted over 1000 delegates, she said.

“Over the years, the summit has had both Nigerian and International Speakers grace the event and shared insights with participants both virtually and physically.

This Year’s summit is designed to provide additional values for both local and international participants.

The summit is planned to enable participants to gain practical knowledge that is needed to scale up in the event industry,” BusyBee Event Business Summit boss narrated.

Sotunde who also established the most effective event business community, The Well-Watered Garden Tribe (WWGT) and leading awards platform in the industry, BusyBee Excellence Awards, spoke about the importance of technology in the event planning business.

According to her, “The importance of technology in event business cannot be overemphasised. We have seen technology drive growth in the financial space, educational sector, commerce and industry among others and this can be replicated in the event industry.

“Therefore, players in the event industry cannot pretend to operate in a different economy. Tech is a critical growth factor for all sectors so, it is now our time in the events, tourism and hospitality business to embrace technology”, she noted.

The three-day event would begin with a Welcome Cocktail Night at NECA House Event Centre in Alausa that would allow participants to network, while day 2 would feature a Masterclass session at Detutu Events Place in Ogudu and the third day would feature BusyBee Excellence Awards, celebrating outstanding Event professionals who have done excellently well in their businesses.

Sotunde further revealed the value of the event planning industry in Nigeria to be $ 20 billion. According to her, “This industry can be deepened with more value if the federal and state governments partner with the players in the industry to push Nigeria positives in different ways.

For instance, Nigeria has a lot of sites, and people including foreigners can explore for relaxation and events, she added.

She said if governments either at the federal or state levels partner with the industry, “we can invite foreigners and locals to visit our beautiful sites where they can relax or use as events outside their homes”.
