King’s College Old Boy Rewards Exceptional Students, Staff with N11m

An old student of King’s College, Lagos, and immediate past President of the King’s College Old Boys Association (KCOBA), Mr. Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, has rewarded 10 outstanding students in academics and extracurricular activities, as well as the school principal with a total of N11 million.

The cash gifts were presented during the school’s speech day and prize-giving ceremony with the theme “Maintaining Focus and Determination: Key to Academic Success.”

The award categories were: Kashim Ibrahim-Imam Prize for exemplary conduct; prize for the best all round sportsman; prize for the best student in Basic Education Certificate Examination; prize for the best student in WAEC West African Senior School Certificate Examination;  best in NECO SSCE; best in JAMB UTME.

He also rewarded the overall winning house in the school’s inter-house sporting competition; the neatest boarding house; overall best staff; the old boy that has most impacted the school, as
well as special award to the principal.

There were other prizes in different categories by the school, other individuals and organisations, presented to deserving students, academic and non-academic staff of the school.

Ibrahim-Imam said that the gesture was a way of giving back in demonstration of his passion for the college, which is one of the best things that have happened to him.

He stressed the importance of focus and determination, and urged the students to strive to be the best in academics, character, sports and other extracurricular activities.

While commending the management and staff for sustaining the culture of excellence, he congratulated the parents and thanked them for their continued support.

He also assured the current students of the old boys’ readiness to welcome them into their fold upon graduation, and to provide them the necessary mentorship, guidance and advice.

The Principal of the King’s College, Mr. Andrew Agada, expressed satisfaction with the performance of the students, especially in external examinations. 

Agada stressed that education is not just about transmitting facts and figures, but about instilling values of unity, integrity and character in the students.

He thanked the exceptional staff, dedicated students, and members of the School Based Management Committee, the old boys, the Federal Ministry of Education, the donors and the supportive parents for being the pillars upon which the school rests.
