Philmoore Returned as PGA Director at the 2023 AGM

Tony Philmoore has been returned as the Director of the Professional Golfers’ Association of Nigeria for the next two years. 

He emerged unopposed from the Annual General Meeting of the Association held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.

Philmoore said after his re-election that, the victory was an endorsement by the members for the momentum generated in the last two years toward re-establishing the game and its professionalism.

“We have moved the needle on so many fronts and that came with so much sacrifice, hard work, and a dedicated team. This has set up professional golf as one of the most promising sporting careers in the country, “stressed Philmoore. 

He added that the developments have motivated him and his team to put in their best to deliver, pride of association, and meaningful progress for the entire members of the association.

Johnbull Dangofa was equally returned as the Tournament Director of the body from the election, and he says his goal is to drive the calendar in the next two years to be the most boisterous in this clime.

“We have the talent, the facilities but we need the platforms. Our job is to make that happen through my office, and all we have done in the last two years has set the tone for it, “he added.

Uchenna Eze also retained his Operations Director’s portfolio, while Aminu Baba was elected Finance Director, while Musa Ayuba and Segun Obamuwe won their position as Ex-officio.

Philmoore said his second term on the board will be kicked off with reconciliation and vision casting.

“We can’t afford our collective future to be fractured for misunderstanding and injustice. I will galvanize professional golf in Nigeria and set us up to attain our fullest potential, God helping.”
