Organised Labour Expresses Dismay With Some Appointments Made Into MDAs In Niger

 Organised Labour in Niger state has said that it is shocked at  ” some appointments” recently made into some Ministries. Departments and Agencies by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.

The NLC in a communique released after an emergency State Executive Council meeting held at the Labour house Minna on Monday did not say what aspects of the appointments shocked the industrial union.

It however said that some of the appointments were ” in blatant disregard to extant laws establishing the MDAs”.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago in different statements authored by the Special Adviser  Digital Media and Strategy Abdullberqy Ebbo announced the appointments of 92 persons into 28 MDAs last week.

The Communique jointly signed by the state Chairman of the NLC Comrade Idris Lafene  and the  Secretary Trade Union Congress TUC Comrade Ibrahim Gana  also expressed disappointment over the delay in the implementation of the Wage Award in Niger State warning that “if implementation continues to linger, the organized labour will have no option but to take appropriate industrial action” while also saying that “The SEC in session resolved that pensioners should also be considered in the wage award”.

The document also  insists that a circular on the reversal of the 2007 Contributory Pension Scheme  law “must be released” before Organised Labour will consent to the proposed automation and verification of pension processes.

While maintaining that the verification of Pensioners should be held at “respective local government areas” the organised Labour said it is also  resolute that proper sensitization of pensioners must be done for at least 2 months before the commencement of the verification exercise and that the Nigeria Union of Pensioners  should be carried along in the entire process.

According to the document  “The organized labour expressed its readiness to conduct seamless screening exercise for workers in the state and LGAs as requested by the government to assist the government in ascertaining the actual data of its workforce.

The Communique  commended the leadership of organized Labour for being proactive and forthright in addressing issues.
