Our Support for Youth Borne Out of Passion, Vision – Dr Oputa

…plans to upscale youth empowerment activities

As youths remain the strength and future of any nation, the Founder and President, Gregory Oputa International Foundation, Prince Dr Gregory Oputa, said the support and transformation of the lives of youths in Delta State and across the country is borne out of passion and divine vision.

Oputa who was recently conferred with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ on behalf of the US President, Joe Biden by the President of African, Caribbean Faith-Based Leadership Conference, Dr Agorom Dike, for ‘Lifelong Commitment to building a stronger nation through volunteer service’ explained his passion for young people in Nigeria whom his Foundation gives priority in terms of capacity building, instilling discipline, building passion for patriotism, integrity and resilience to become what they dream to be.

He said: “I have been into human capacity development over many decades, and decided to focus more on young people who are the category of persons that the leadership, peace, advancement and resilience to become what they aspire to attain and achieve.

“Nigeria’s youth population is a very critical resource that can not be overlooked because these young people both home and abroad have all it takes to galvanize development in Nigeria.

“By the grace of God, my God led me to establish the Gregory Oputa International Foundation basically to touch lives and make them productive, patriotic, and passionate citizens.

“The Foundation has organised a whole lot of programmes to ensure young people in Delta State are major contributors to the development of the State and Nigeria at large.

“The young people are trained to be entrepreneurs as we inculcate in them skills that would sustain them and their families, and also become employers of labour, and today we are seeing them emerge as responsible people that are positively productive in the society.”

Meanwhile, as traditional title holder (The Omordi Chukwubueze of Ancient Aboh Kingdom), he (Oputa) said the Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has a good plan for young people in Delta State, therefore his will support the implementation of programmes and projects for Delta youths.

“We appreciate the blueprint of His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for the young people in Delta State. We will support HE to implement the programmes and projects that would add value to the lives of our teeming youth across the Local Government Areas and three senatorial districts in the state.

“We are open for synergy and collaboration with the Government of Delta State, and through our headquarters in Aboh we will ensure the lives of youths are turned around and made productive irrespective of their backgrounds”, he said.

Meanwhile, he (Oputa) congratulated the Governor of Delta State, HE Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori over his victory at the Court of Appeal in Lagos, where his election nas Governor of Delta State was upheld and declared winner of the March 11 governorship election in the State.

He also expressed optimism that the Oborevwori-led administration will bring about a new dimension of development in all sphere touching the lives of the great people of Delta State.

Meanwhile, he called on the people in the State to support the Governor, and also ensure peace in their domain for investors to pour into the State as that will lead to unprecedented development of the Delta State economy.
