FUTO Holds 34th and 35th Convocation Amidst Ovation

The 34th and 35th combined convocation ceremony of the Federal University of Technology Owerri [FUTO] holds Saturday 2nd December amidst pomp and excitement as many distinguished Nigerians will be conferred with different awards.
Leading those who has been penciled down for awards is Chief Engineer Chibuike Lawrence Achigbu, Chairman/CEO of Chimos Group, who is billed to be conferred with an honorary Doctorate Degree-Doctor of Technology[D.Tech] [Honoris Causa].
The FUTO ALUMNI Association in a press release congratulated Mr Achigbu, noting that “With a wealth of knowledge and experience spanning nearly three decades, Mr. Achigbu has made significant impacts in various spheres of the industry. His academic journey includes a master’s degree (MPA) in Political Economy from the University of Lagos and a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum/Petrochemical Engineering Technology from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. He also holds a Post-Graduate Certificate in Business Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Leadership Development from the prestigious Harvard Business School, Boston, Massachusetts”.
According to the press statement which was signed by the trio of Ikukundu Iyke Anyanwu, Team Lead Publicist and Media, Alumni convocation activity programme, Prof Laz Uzoechi, National President FUTO alumni association, Rotarian Madu Stanley Okechukwu, Chibuike Lawrence Achigbu, a distinguished Petroleum Engineer and leader in the gas industry in Nigeria, is already, recipient of numerous accolades and recognition for his outstanding contributions.
The press release stated that Chief Engineer Achigbu’s professional journey is a testament to his leadership and innovation noting that as the Group M a n a g i n g Director/CEO of Chimons Gas Limited, he has displayed exemplary leadership by managing a w o r k
f o r c e of over 200 employees and steering the successful lifting of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) from NLNG into the domestic market.
Chief Engineer Achigbu is an integral part of the team of FUTO alumni who have remained consistent in their support for the infrastructural upliftment of FUTO.
His immense contributions to both the Alumni Association and the University have significantly contributed to the growth and development of the institution.
His unwavering dedication to the betterment of FUTO reflects the true spirit of an engaged and supportive alumnus the alumni noted in the press statement.
Appreciating its Alma Mater, the Alumni said “As we express pride in Chief Engineer Achigbu’s accomplishments, we also take this opportunity to appreciate our Alma Mater, FUTO, for finding it worthy to honour alumni who have played pivotal roles in the collective progress of the university. FUTO’s commitment to recognizing and celebrating the achievements of its alumni is commendable and reinforces the strong bond between the university and its graduates,” the statement read.
The FUTO ALUMNI Association also applauded the Vice Chancellor and management of FUTO for their continuous efforts to foster a sense of community among its alumni and for acknowledging the outstanding contributions of individuals like Chief Engineer Chibuike Lawrence Achigbu.
