On this year’s International Day of the Girl Child, Festus Abigail, a forward-thinking leader and the Executive Director of FAB Treasure Foundation, highlighted the importance of supporting girls’ rights.
To commemorate this special day, FAB Treasure Foundation in partnership with the Girl Force Movement hosted an event with the theme “From Aspiration to Achievements: Girls Leading in Tech Leadership and Health’. This event was graced by prominent speakers and leaders, including the Founder and President of Corazon SPEAKS, Marshal Osorachukwu and the Founder of the Growth Accelerator Workshop, Leonard Jimiruna.
Osorachukwu in his keynote address, inspired the girls present to believe in their limitless potential and to strive for greatness.
“To every girl listening today, know that you are amazing, powerful, and capable of achieving greatness. Your worth is immeasurable, your dreams are valid and your voice is invaluable. Believe in yourself and the difference you can make in the world. Embrace your strength, create change, challenge the status quo, set boundaries, and define your own story”, he said.
He also encouraged them to listen to higher authorities and to become valuable assets to their families, society, Nigeria, and the world.
Jimiruna on his part, spoke on the importance of girls taking up leadership roles in the tech industry.
In his words, “We are living in a transformative era, and we must leverage the untapped potential and unique perspectives that girls bring to the table’ Taking up leadership roles in tech is not just a career choice; it’s a pathway to shaping the future. Embracing these roles allows you to be architects of change, contributors to progress, and trailblazers in a field that is transforming the way we live, work, and connect.”
The FAB Treasure Foundation, as it is in their culture reassured the girls that they ‘Can Be More’ urging every girl to step into her full potential with unbridled confidence. Society may offer a script, but you hold the pen. You have the power to shape your narrative. Don’t be confined by others’ perceptions; instead, be the author of a story that authentically reflects the brilliance of your unique character. Stand tall, dream boldly, and with unwavering belief, declare to the world: “I can be more.”
In a world where girls continue to face numerous challenges and barriers, we must come together to provide them with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to lead fulfilling lives and have equitable participation in society – Miss Festus Abigail.
FAB Treasure Foundation has a long history of working to empower girls in Nigeria. The foundation has provided menstrual hygiene education and sanitary pads to thousands of girls and has also worked to raise awareness about the importance of girl-child education. FAB Treasure Foundation’s work is making a real difference in the lives of girls in Nigeria, and the foundation is committed to continuing its work to ensure that all girls have the opportunity to succeed.
In addition to the inspiring and informative sessions, the FAB Treasure Foundation also distributed free sanitary pads to over 300 girls from five different schools that were in attendance. This initiative was part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to combat period poverty and ensure that girls have access to the menstrual hygiene products they need.
The event ended with Mrs. Winifred Ereyi sending her motherly love to the girls.
As the world celebrates the girl child, visionary leader Festus Abigail and the FAB Treasure Foundation serve as beacons of hope, reminding us that together, we can do more to support girls around the world. Together, we can create a world where all girls have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
