– Launches Africana 17 Charitable Foundation

In a groundbreaking event that melded fashion and philanthropy, Africana, the African luxury fashion house, debuted its latest SS24 collection, “The Art Of Life”, at the “Africana Experience Live.”
The event which took place yesterday at Harrow Park, Abuja, which is the brand’s first-ever runway show, not only showcased its outstanding growth and commitment to artisanal craftsmanship but also introduced the Africana 17 Charitable Foundation, a significant initiative aimed at supporting Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
The event featured mesmerizing musical performances, including an orchestra and choir, alongside captivating art installations. An insightful documentary screened across the venue offered a glimpse into Africana’s journey, ethos, and the inspiration behind SS24, with Guest Creative Director Ifidon Oisamoje sharing the intricacies of the collection’s development.
The runway featured a diverse range of designs, each telling a unique story, from effortlessly stylish loungewear that created a relaxed atmosphere in the “Art of Living” segment to elegant traditional African attire celebrating our society’s rich heritage in the “Art of Culture (Kaftans & Agbada)” section.
In a momentous announcement, Charles Oronsaye, CEO of Africana, launched the Africana 17 Charitable Foundation. This formal initiative aims to support Nigeria’s healthcare sector, with the foundation’s inaugural project focused on raising funds for two dialysis machines for the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), providing free treatment.
‘Setting up this foundation reflects my lifelong aspiration to use fashion as a force for good, aiming to support underprivileged communities and demonstrate the potentially impactful role of our industry in societal welfare”, Oronsaye noted.
The ‘Africana Experience Live,’ supported by Tecno, The Macallan, MAC, and Kairos Hof, concluded with a vibrant after-party. Guests had the exclusive opportunity to purchase pieces from the SS24 collection and enjoy a stunning fireworks display, capping off a mesmerizing multisensory spectacle that captured the essence of Africana’s creativity.
