The University of Maiduguri Alumni Association FCT chapter has called on the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), JK Gadzama, SAN, to uphold the association’s constitution and establish procedures for the growth and progress of the University of Maiduguri Alumni Association.
The chapter unanimously condemned and rejected irregularities at the recently held Inaugural Annual General Meeting and the purported constitution amendment by the National EXCO.
This was stated in a communique signed by its chairman, Baba Shettima Kukawa, and secretary, Maimuna A. Wakawa (Tarfa), at the end of its General Congress held in Abuja over the weekend.
According to the communique, “The congress mandates the EXCO to explore all avenues to resolve the issues surrounding the illegal constitution amendment and other infractions at the inaugural National Annual General Meeting held on Saturday, 14th October 2023, at J-K Gadzama Court, Abuja, including seeking legal redress, if necessary.
“All members were called upon to stay up to date with their financial obligations by ensuring timely payment of dues, aimed at contributing to the association’s financial stability and aiding the successful implementation of its programs and projects.
“The current EXCO was commended for their unwavering commitment and dedication to service, acknowledging their laudable programs and projects.”
The communique urged the next Executive Committee (EXCO) to ensure continuity and complete other phases of the solar power project of the FCT Chapter in the University of Maiduguri Campus, for the benefit of students and the university community.
“We call on members to generously contribute towards the full implementation of the project.”
