Expert Charges Insurance Operators on Trust, Professionalism

Insurance operators have been charged to see themselves as stewards of trust, guardians of financial security and ambassadors of professionalism.
Insurance expert and management consultant, Dr. Ola Agboola gave the charge at the 2023 induction and Awards Ceremony of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) for new fellows and associates of the institute held at the College of Insurance, Asese, Ogun State.
He urged the professionals to embrace this responsibility with enthusiasm, commitment and dedication.
“As you embark on this new chapter in your careers, I would like to emphasise the crucial role that professionalism and ethical conduct play in the insurance industry. Insurance, at its core, is built on trust. Clients entrust us with their financial well-being, relying on us to provide security and support in times of uncertainty. Therefore, it is imperative that we, as insurance professionals, uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethical behavior”, Agboola said.
Speaking on the topic Significance of Professionalism and the Code of Conduct, Agboola said professionalism in the insurance sector was not just about possessing technical expertise but is about demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning, staying abreast of industry trends, and adapting to the ever-evolving landscape.
“It involves a dedication to excellence in service delivery, ensuring that our clients receive the best possible advice and solutions tailored to their unique needs. Your level of professionalism can make or break your career, ”he warned.
In his welcome address, the President of CIIN, Mr. Edwin Igbiti said induction ceremony was a momentous occasion that did not only celebrate achievements but also marked the beginning of a journey as leaders in the insurance sector.
He urged the inductees to build strong relationships with their clients and colleagues.
He also encouraged them to embrace innovation and technological exploits and advancements.
