Celebrating Dr Cyril Ajagu @60, African Alliance, Universal Insurance  Join Force 

In many respects, sixty years is a milestone worthy of celebration as it is equated with wisdom and maturity.

More celebratory cheers are worthy as Nigeria celebrates an accomplished businessman and investor, Dr. Cyril Ajagu, a man whose entire personality connotes resilience, wisdom, and fortitude and in the face of varying life’s challenges.

 Ajagu is the Chairman of Conau Group and holds a major stake in Universal Insurance Plc as well as African Alliance Insurance Plc.

He studied and qualified as an Engineer with B. (Tech) in Mining Engineering, holds a Masters Degree in Innovation Technology and (Dr. Sc. Hon) in Business Management and Corporate Governance from European -American University and also a Doctorate Degree in Business Admin. from Swiss Business  School (SBS)Switzerland.

He is a member of the society of Petroleum Engineers and has worked for seventeen years in the Oil and Gas Industry such as Mobil Nigeria and Overseas (North Sea), Schlumberger and Shell Petroleum Development Company (Nigeria) and International, before leaving the industry honourably for greener pastures.

Engr. Ajagu is a versatile, astute and well connected businessman and has business interests in almost all spheres of business areas for the upliftment of mankind.

Engr. Cyril Ajagu is endowed with exceptional wisdom and knowledge which has made him to be in the fore front of so many companies within and outside Nigeria. His business acumen cuts across Construction, Estate Development, Management,  Transportation, Oil and Gas, Farming, SMEs and Industrial Consultancy. 

His exceptional performance has earned him various awards and recognitions such as Paul Harris Fellow and Foundational Member of Rotary Club International; (including being a major donor in Rotary International) ,Fellow of the Institute of Entrepreneurial Studies (Nigeria), Fellow of Chartered Institute of Cost Management  of Nigeria, one of the Twenty Five Agents of change in Corporate Nigeria of This Day Newspapers, Award of Excellence by the West African Insurance Institute and Federal University of Technology Akure  (FUTA), Recipient of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Africa Leadership Award 2008, Recognition by the Federal University of Technology Akure for being a Major Donor in the University. Recognition by West Africa Insurance Institute (WAII) Banjul, Gambia. The Best of Nigeria Awards for Entrepreneurial excellence 2009, Men of Achievement Award for outstanding achievement in business, 2008 & 2009, Press Gallery Award for Insurance Company CEO of the year 2010, Global Leader of Integrity Merit Award 2012 by Integrity International Magazine, Accra Ghana.  He is also the recipient of 2022 Most Outstanding Savvy Investor of the Year award, by Champion Newspapers Limited.

Following his love for people staff and management of African Alliance PLC and Universal Insurance Plc, recently hosted a surprised birthday for his new age of 60. 

Speaking at the surprised birthday, the managing Director/ CEO Of African Alliance Plc, Joyce Ojemudia, described him as a trusted personality who is committed to growth of people and business..

 She prayed  that his zest for life and unwavering spirit continue to inspire those around him.

My first encounter with him was in 2004 in his office  in port harcourt and I was working with global commerce Nigeria assurance. Since that encounter the way I see things has changed.
