Drama, Intrigues, Backbiting, at Real Housewives of Lagos Second Season Finale
Stories by Vanessa Obioha
In the Real Housewives of Lagos second-season finale on Showmax, the tension among the housewives reached its peak. The ongoing feud between Laura Ikeji and Iyabo Ojo, which began in the penultimate episode, escalated dramatically with Iyabo, seemingly ready for a physical confrontation, if not for Laura’s pregnancy.
Throughout the season, the animosity between these two was evident, and the finale saw them abandon all restraint.
During a private moment with her season-bestie Faith Morey, Laura boldly labelled Iyabo as nothing more than a bully with a penchant for being all “mouth” and no action.
“If they put me and Iyabo in a room physically, Iyabo cannot beat me, and the thing is if next year she comes for me and I’m not pregnant, I will tell them to lock us in a room, so we will fight, survival of the fittest, the person that wins will come out. For me, I think her strength is in her mouth.”
Barely 24 hours after their heated altercation, Tania brought up a separate issue involving Faith Morey and Dr. Rommel during breakfast. As newcomers to the season, Faith and Dr. Rommel initially got along but later fell out of sync, leaving the other ladies puzzled. Of course, they both had their versions of how things went sour. Faith claimed she never considered Dr Rommel a friend in addition to his negative comments about the ladies, while Dr Rommel found Faith haughty and fake.
During their confrontation, Dr Rommel directly called Faith a pathological liar, expressing concern about her habit of fabricating stories.
“When you sit down there and make up stories and things that never happen and make them look like they happened, then I’m actually afraid for who you really are.”
He went on to suggest that Faith saw Chioma as competition, and aimed to curry favour with Iyabo for connections as well as to find a husband similar to Iyabo’s.
While the women seemed to stick with Dr Rommel, Laura chose to be on Faith’s side,
At the end of the day, the women were divided between the two, with Laura still sticking with Faith, a choice that Dr Rommel seemingly accepted while expressing concern about Laura hearing voices and seeing things that aren’t there, a problem he hopes to help her deal with.
Tania, perceived as pretentious by some housewives, and Faith, known for her consistently blunt demeanour throughout the season, reached a point where she couldn’t tolerate Tania’s sweetness any longer. When Iyabo raised the matter of supporting Faith’s business, Faith bluntly labelled Tania a puppet, accusing her of consistently being sneaky and making disparaging remarks about others behind their backs.
“I’ve said it from the first time I saw her, she is a snake,” said Faith during her diary session.
With Toyin and Mariam’s unresolved physical altercation, the upcoming reunion promises even more intensity and drama. We will be here for the tea.
