Enoh is SERAS Africa Sustainability Man of the Year 2023
The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, was the cynosure of eyes Friday evening as he received the esteemed Africa Sustainability Man of the Year award in a colourful event during the 17th Sustainability, Enterprise, and Responsibility Awards (SERAS).
The well-attended event graced by captains of industries in Lagos acknowledged Senator Enoh’s exceptional contributions to sustainable leadership and transformative initiatives within the sports ministry.
Enoh was recognised as a visionary leader, and outstanding achiever whose ability to steer the sports ministry towards positive transformation, has been felt within the short time of taking over.
Enoh joins the ranks of distinguished personalities who have previously received the award, including Tony Elumelu (Tony Elumelu Foundation), Aliko Dangote (Aliko Dangote Foundation), and Lieutenant General (Sir) Seretse Khama (Former President of the Republic of Botswana).
Under his guidance, the sports ministry is undergoing a remarkable turnaround, marked by clear policy directions and an extraordinary passion to rejuvenate all facets of Nigeria’s sports ecosystem for the greater good of the nation.
Speaking at the event, the Nigeria Sports Minister said: “I’m elated to be so recognised and join the elites class of top achievers with SERAS top award. “And I’m happy to add that central to my leadership is the implementation of the six-point agenda known as W.A.I.F.A.R (Welfare, Activation of sports as business, Infrastructure development, Funding for sports, Activation of grassroots sports development, and Reorganization of sports federations).
“And I hope that all you corporate bodies here this evening to support SERAS will also support our six-point agenda.”
The agenda underscores his dedication to sports development and sustainable livelihoods, with a particular focus on the impact of sports on Nigeria’s economy.
Beyond sports, Enoh has demonstrated a deep commitment to philanthropy over the decades through the JOE Foundation. “My foundation has worked tirelessly to help sufferers of diabetes and we have been doing it for many years now,” he added.
