Gospel Singer, LizMo aspires to be a global music brand

In the resounding realm of gospel music, where voices serve as instruments of solace and lyrics transcend, emerging Nigerian talent Olufa Elizabeth Omotolani, known as LizMo, stands as a beacon of vocal strength and lyrical prowess.

From the earliest echoes of her youth, her musical journey unfolded, propelling her into the roles of gospel music minister, songwriter, and music instructor. Her voice, a harmonic force capable of soothing frayed nerves and elevating weary souls, has become a defining feature in the Nigerian gospel music landscape.

Reflecting on the influences that shape her music, LizMo shares, “Our traditional Nigerian music holds immense cultural significance, profoundly impacting my style and lyrical content. I blend traditional and modern musical styles to create a unique sound that captivates audiences within and beyond our borders.”

Born into a musically inclined family, her odyssey began as a choir member, setting the stage for her formal musical education at the esteemed Muson School of Music in 2007. A musical virtuoso, she achieved dual certifications from Muson School of Music and ABRSM with a Grade 5 distinction in 2010. Recognizing her prodigious talent, she earned a scholarship for a diploma program in voice, completing it with distinction in 2012. Her academic pursuit continued at the University of Lagos, culminating in graduation in 2019. LizMo’s dedication to her craft and spiritual calling has seen her ministering in churches across Lagos and beyond, earning her the distinction of being a singing minister at The Evidence Church, led by her father, Pastor Paul Adeniyi. Her commitment to spreading messages of faith through music manifested in her debut EP, ‘Gratitude,’ released in May 2022.

With an unwavering vision, she declares, “I aspire to be a global brand, creating music infused with the spirit of God to be a continual blessing to audiences both at home and abroad.”

On the impact she sees her music making, the soulful singer said, “Music for me is an expression of how I feel, whether happy or sad. Music helps us immeasurably during this time. It’s an understanding force, and there’s something about its wordlessness which helps us to see our reflection in its mirror without our having to explain anything. I am inspired to write songs my listeners can connect with, The music matches their mood, or it can help them change it too as they listen to my music and the major aim is for them to be blessed as they listen to my songs.”
