AA Zaura: I Join Politics to Touch More Lives

The Kano State- born Business mogul, Philanthropist and founder of AA Zaura Foundation, Abdulsalam Abdulkarim Zaura, popularly known as AA Zaura, has stated that his passion to “ touch more lives” and serve his people was his motivation to join politics.

He disclosed this in a chat with newsmen recently in Abuja, adding that “being a philanthropist, when I associated myself with the masses, I saw there is a need to join politics because I think that what I am doing as a philanthropist for them is not enough. So, I decided to join politics so I can have enough time to touch lives and to do much more for the people.

“At times when one say this, people always think that politicians always say they join politics because of the people. However, to justify this statement, you need to check their antecedents; is this person really for the people or he is for himself?

“Honestly, what motivated me to join politics is the people, I joined politics for the people, I have been doing it for the people. I am doing it not because I want gain from it, I am doing it to give my time, to give what I can give to my society, to give what I can to my country. These are the motives behind my joining politics,” he said.

Zaura, who contested and lost the Kano Central Senatorial seat in the 2023 general elections under the All Progressive Congress(APC) , said it was his desire to make life better for his people that birthed his humanitarian organisation, the AA Zaura Foundation.

According to him, “the foundation is working even after the election; we lost the election and the next day we started working. This foundation is for the people, the day the foundation stops working is the day I stop breathing.

“The foundation has been there, and it has nothing to do with politics, it has been there even before my venturing into politics, and is a single foundation that has never received any form of donation from any individual or group all over the world or in Nigeria. Whatever activity the foundation is doing is 100 per cent coming out from me. Today, when you tune into any radio station in Kano, you will hear them giving out food in Kano. You will hear people calling to answer questions and win a bag of rice.”

Zaura disclosed that the foundation recently “ partnered with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to give them N200 million for the purpose of building houses for those who do not have houses.”

The AA Zaura Foundation, is a community/social impact development, and empowerment, non-profit foundation that is committed to improving the quality of life of Nigerians of different backgrounds.

The foundation supports health and education interventions implementations and empowers women and youths through grants and skill acquisitions and ensuring that Nigerians, especially those in rural areas, have access to basic opportunities.
